The Lycée Français François Mitterrand is located in a privileged area of Brasilia in Lago Sul, QI21. It is part of the worldwide AEFE network (Agence pour l'enseignement français à l'étranger) and follows the French national education curriculum. Belonging to this global network allows children to be educated from kindergarten to the baccalaureate, from one school to another and from one country to another. In addition to French, Portuguese, English and Spanish are taught. The school welcomes students from kindergarten to high school.
Unlike most Brazilian schools, the school year starts at the end of August and ends at the end of June as in North America or Europe. Students start school at 7.45am. Primary school students finish at 2.50 pm and secondary school students have classes until the end of the day (maximum 6 pm depending on the level). In both primary and secondary schools, extra-curricular activities are offered after school until 5 or 6 pm. The monthly fee is approximately R$ 38,000 per year plus an initial administrative fee of R$ 6,000 payable on first enrolment.
The school is characterised by its values of humanism, tolerance, and secularism. In particular, critical thinking is developed.
