The Polícia Federal is also responsible for all immigration issues. The office is located near the airport here in Brasilia.

You must make an appointment in advance to see them and the service is very good.

While they do not speak English, they are very helpful. To obtain your permanent residence card (CRNM) is takes only about 1 month and is an easy process as long as you have all the necessary paperwork.
