Tucked away at the beginning of Asa Sul, the Brasilia Model Airplane Association, Associação Brasiliense de Aeromodelismo (ABRA), operates a 50,000 square meter modeling park, including a runway for model planes, a model car racetrack and a model helicopter and drone field.
Founded in 1979 ABRA is the biggest model club in Brasilia and the area is open from 7:00 to 19:00, 7 days a week. But most of the action you see on the weekends with dozens of airplanes starting and landing, drones zipping overhead and the noise of the model petrol cars racing on the racetrack.
Entry is free to either participate or just coming along to watch the action. The model airplane runway staging area is covered so you are protected from the weather. And the racetrack has a nice viewing area.
On weekends some food trucks will be at the park and if you have your own model plane, car helicopter or drone, the Brazilians will welcome you with open arm.
